Sachin as it called in Pomak, is the largest Pomak village of Xanthi, with a long and interesting history. Houses are built close to one another, at small but highly densely populated area at the turn of Kompsatos River. It has a population of approximately 3000 people and it has three mosques. You should visit the Echinos Fort which used to be part of the Metaxas Line, a series of forts spread through Macedonia and Thrace, that were under the initial attack of 24 platoons of Hitler’s army, starting on the 6th of April, 1941.
